Patrick Abbott studied engineering at Oxford University, where he also spent a lot of time playing his clarinet.
His clarinet studies have led to master-classes with Gervase de Peyer and Walter Boeykens.
In 2002, Patrick gave up a career in embedded software, to study acoustics, gaining the 2002 Diploma Prize with the Institute of Acoustics. He then turned his attentions towards woodwind instrument making and repair, studying full-time at the renowned Newark and Sherwood College. Patrick is a lecturer in acoustics on the musical instrument courses at the college.
